Create Your Favorite Letter Set with Decorative Paper
I tried making a letter set using “kana” paper.
Kana paper often has beautiful patterns, and many have a calm, elegant feel.
If you can’t find a letter set you like, I highly recommend trying this.
■Materials Needed (makes one standard long 4 envelope set and 3 sheets of writing paper)
-
- Kana paper, half-kanshi size, 2 sheets – Folding template (make a draft on a separate sheet as shown below)
- Simple backing paper, 1 sheet (not needed for opaque papers like rolled paper. You can also layer two sheets of kana paper instead)

■How to Make
Cut the half-kanshi paper in half.
Of the 4 sheets obtained, use 3 for writing paper and 1 for the envelope.
(If one sheet for writing is thin, back it with simple backing paper.)
Fold along the template sheet, creating creases.
Finally, glue it into an envelope, and it’s done.

This time, I used “Asuka” paper, popular at Shoyu, to make the set.
Since the pack contains 5 colors and 5 patterns, you can make 5 types of writing sheets with one pack!
I tried writing on them, and it was very easy to write with a ballpoint pen, brush pen, or small brush.
