Basic Knowledge of Folding Fans

Men’s Fan & Women’s Fan

These are general names categorized by size for men and women.
However, there is no strict rule that women must use a women’s fan. Please choose the size that best matches the image of your work.

Thin Ribs & Flat Ribs

When the fan is closed, fans with ribs narrower than the paper are called thin-ribbed, while those with ribs the same width as the paper are called flat-ribbed. Please select the design you prefer.

Writing on a White Fan or on Fan Paper

Since white fans have uneven surfaces, they can be difficult to write on. For those who find this challenging, fan paper is recommended.
When using fan paper, you write first and then send it for mounting. This service is available at Shoyu stores, so please feel free to contact us if needed.
