Collection: Liquid Ink for Kana Works

Delicate Kana Requires Delicately Made Ink

Ink for kana is formulated differently from ink for kanji.
So, what’s the difference…?
The difference lies in the use of fine soot particles and high-quality glue (nikawa) or resin in kana ink.
For small kana works such as ancient calligraphy, small-sized bottles are recommended. For larger kana scroll works, we suggest “Tomoshibi,” “Saoshika,” or the uniquely expressive “Kasen (Blue Ink)” and “Kasen (Brown Ink).”
