Collection: Yatsugiri Size
Choose a Mat to Match Your Work
A calligraphy mat is placed under hanshi or gasen paper.
There are several standard sizes, usually chosen to match the paper placed on top.
When writing on "yatsugiri" paper, use a yatsugiri-sized mat (22.5×75 cm). Yatsugiri paper is one-eighth the size of a full sheet.
Since it can be inconvenient without space to place your model text, it is better to choose the largest mat possible.
Felt and Lasha Types
Each of the two materials has its own characteristics.
Choose according to your preferred thickness and texture.
Felt mats, known for their luxury and volume, are
made by compressing animal hair,
and are characterized by softness and excellent water repellency.
Lasha mats are more affordable than felt, with fabric that is durable and resistant to wrinkles,
making them convenient for folding, carrying, and even washing.
