Introduction to Karafude

■ Senkōenken

The tip is made of black rabbit hair, surrounded by goat hair.
This is one of the most famous Karafude brushes.
It is suitable not only for address writing, sutra copying, and certificate writing, but also for kana characters thanks to its sharp lines.

■ Daishichi Shisanyō

“Shishi” refers to rabbit; this brush is made of 70% rabbit hair and 30% goat hair.
The tip is black rabbit, surrounded by goat hair, and is made slightly thicker than Shichisanyō. Recommended for certificate writing and addressing.

■ Shakan

The tip is white rabbit, surrounded by goat hair. With its responsive tip, it is easy for beginners to use.
It is widely used at temples for sutra-copying gatherings and is suitable for sutra writing. Compared to the Soryō Shakan, it has a softer, more adhesive spring.

■ Soryō Shakan

The tip is black rabbit, surrounded by goat hair.
Slightly larger than the Shakan, the black rabbit hair provides resilience and a sharp writing feel.

■ Kahitsu Shunsanshoku Yōsei

The tip is white rabbit, surrounded by goat hair, and is slightly larger than the Shakan.
It is often used for address writing.

■ Kanpeki

A small brush made entirely of goat hair.
Brushes made only of goat hair are rare, and are highly recommended when you want to create soft characters or small works.
