Ink Reservoir for Calligraphy (Bokuchi)

Collection: Ink Reservoir for Calligraphy (Bokuchi)

Ink Containers for Immediate Writing

Save Time Without Grinding Ink

An ink pool is a convenient container used for pouring liquid ink directly when practicing calligraphy.
It is especially useful when you want to practice frequently, create large works with a generous amount of ink, or write kakizome (the first calligraphy of the year).
Unlike an inkstone used for grinding ink sticks, an ink pool allows you to begin writing immediately by simply pouring in bottled ink.
It is ideal when grinding ink is time-consuming or when you want to focus entirely on writing.
Ink pools can also be used not only for calligraphy but for watercolor painting and ink wash painting as well.
Models with lids allow you to move them safely while working without worrying about spills.
Fill the container with enough ink to soak the brush thoroughly, and remove excess ink by touching the brush tip to the raised center area.
Please note that ink pools are designed for liquid ink only and cannot be used for grinding ink sticks.

Portable and Available in Various Materials

Plastic ink pools are lightweight and convenient to carry compared with traditional inkstones.
Ceramic types offer an elegant appearance and a more refined feel.
Copper versions are also available and help reduce ink oxidation.
Since the appearance and usability differ depending on the material, please choose the one that best suits your preference.
For quality reasons, it is not recommended to return ink once poured into the pool back into its original bottle.
Please keep this in mind when using an ink pool.
