The SekidoBookKokinWakashū is a fragment of the KokinWakashū, said to have been written by Fujiwara no Yukinari and handed down through the Sekido family, a wealthy merchant family in Nagoya.
It is one of the most representative works of ancient Heian calligraphy. It is a fragment of the KokinWakashū written on paper dyed in white and shades of light green, purple, and brown.
Its neat character shapes, varied tempo, rhythmic intonation, skillful ink transitions, and graceful beauty of continuous strokes make it one of the finest examples of calligraphy.
