Koyagiri is the oldest surviving copy of the "Kokin Wakashu," and has long been revered as a research resource for the history of Japanese literature and the Japanese language.
It has also been revered since ancient times as a work of the pinnacle of kana calligraphy.
It has been said to be a work by Ki no Tsurayuki, but a different theory is now widely accepted.
Its elegant and noble style is beloved as the foundation of kana art.
