~What is Hon-gasen Paper?~
This is a type of Chinese Xuan paper created to fulfill the calligraphy and painting needs of ink color development and the beauty of bleeding and blurring.
Xuanshi is a painting and calligraphy paper produced in Xuanzhou (Xuancheng, now Wan County) in Anhui Province, China.
This region is home to the tree (Qingshan) that is the raw material for high-quality Xuanshi. Paper made from this tree's bark, with added straw, is the basis for the Xuanshi that continues to be used today.
This paper was developed after many years of research, seeking superior ink repellency and better expressing the characteristics and color changes of ink.
