Collection: Hanshi-Size Calligraphy Felt Mat
Choose the Largest Calligraphy Mat Possible
A calligraphy mat is placed beneath hanshi or gasen paper when practicing calligraphy.
Several standard sizes are available, and the mat is usually chosen according to the paper placed on top.
For example, a hanshi mat typically measures around 30 × 40 cm.
However, if there is no space for placing a copy model or reference sheet, writing can become inconvenient, so choosing the largest mat possible is recommended.
Felt and Lasha Materials
Calligraphy mats are generally made from two types of materials, each with different characteristics.
Please choose according to your preferred thickness and texture.
Felt mats have a luxurious and voluminous feel.
They are made by compressing animal hair fibers, making them soft and highly water-repellent.
Lasha mats are more affordable than felt and are made from durable woven fabric.
They resist wrinkling, can be folded for easy transport, and are washable, making them practical for everyday use.
