Collection: Water Dropper for Calligraphy (Suiteki)
Delicate Water Control for Grinding Ink
A water dropper is a small tool used to add water to an inkstone when grinding ink or adjusting ink concentration.
It allows water to flow out little by little, making it ideal for careful control when preparing sumi ink.
Use a water dropper whenever you need precise adjustment of ink thickness and moisture.
How to Use a Water Dropper
There is an opening at the top of the water dropper for filling it with water.
You can fill it by submerging it in a container of water or by pouring water directly into the opening.
The spout is located on the side. First, cover the top opening with your finger and tilt the dropper.
Then release your finger slightly, and the water will flow out.
By repeating this motion, you can dispense water one drop at a time.
About Mizusashi (Water Jars)
Pot-shaped, cylindrical, or lidded containers are also known as Mizusashi (water jars).
These are easier to fill with water and usually have a larger spout, so they are less suitable for fine drop-by-drop adjustment.
However, mizusashi offer their own appeal through distinctive shapes and materials, making them enjoyable accessories as well as practical tools.
