Video: Inking New Sakura Thick Hanshi Paper
*The ink used in this video is Rin Ink (regular ink), and the brush is a Shuhitsudo Kochiku.
Crisp, pure white paper.
The low resistance allows the brush to glide smoothly and comfortably, making it easy to write with even for beginners.
The uniformly finished quality provides a consistent writing feel, and the stops, flicks, and strokes are easy to see, making it ideal for beginner calligraphy students and for school-age children to practice.
The medium-thickness paper has low resistance, allowing for smoother writing and is recommended for around six characters on hanshi paper.
The thicker paper is recommended for around four characters on hanshi paper, while the extra-thick paper is recommended for around two characters, as the ink does not penetrate deep even with a generous amount, making it easier to create a rubbing effect.
Differences in expression depending on the thickness
Machine-made hanshi paper for school-age kanji writing. The high pulp content of the raw material makes the paper particularly white, making it ideal for school-age children's practice. It features little bleeding and a slight ink penetration. The paper thicknesses are standard, thick, and extra thick. The thicker paper allows ink to penetrate a little more than the standard thickness. It is widely used for practice in classes and calligraphy schools.
