This copy of a collection of works by Kiyohara Shinyobun is said to have originally been a booklet written by Fujiwara Yukinari.
The elegant paper, sprinkled with mica on a white or pale blue background, is called Masu Shikishi because of its square shape resembling a masu square.
The calligraphy is richly rounded, and the beautiful variations in thin and thick lines and the contrast of light and dark create an unparalleled elegance and grace.
