Characteristics of Benibana
Safflower is an ink made from lamp soot made from rapeseed oil and rouge extracted from Yamagata-grown safflower.
The ink is black, but adding a deep red rouge enhances its blackness.
It spreads easily, and when used as thick ink, it is a glossy pure black, and when used as thin ink, it is a brownish black.
Ideal for kana and kanji works.
