Ancient Calligraphy "Sekidohon Kokin Wakashu"

The Sekidohon Kokinshu is a copy of the Kokin Wakashu, said to have been written by Fujiwara no Yukinari and handed down through the Sekido family, a wealthy merchant family in Nagoya.
It is one of the most representative works of ancient Heian calligraphy. This fragment of the "Kokin Wakashū" (Collection of Ancient and Modern Poetry) was transcribed on white and shades of light green, purple, and brown dyed paper.
Its neat character shapes, varied tempo and intonation, skillful ink transitions, and graceful beauty of continuous strokes make it one of the finest examples of calligraphy.
