Sunmatsuan Shikishi for Copying Ancient Calligraphy

"Sunmatsuan Shikishi" is famous as one of the three shikishi, along with "Tsugishikishi" and "Masu Shikishi."
It was given this name after a fragment of it was handed down to Sakuma Sanekatsu's teahouse, Sunmatsuan.
Originally a book bound with glued leaves containing transcriptions of poems on the four seasons from the "Kokin Wakashu," it is said to have been written by Ki no Tsurayuki.
The brushwork is free-flowing and rich in intonation, making it a classic and elegant style that many people study.
