Ando Seiku: Calligrapher. Born in Hyogo Prefecture. His given name was Masao. Self-taught, he dedicated himself to the study of kana and published the magazine "Kana Uta" to promote calligraphy. He also won the top prize at the first Taito Shodoin exhibition. Since then, he has been active in various exhibitions and has had a major influence on the calligraphy world. He was an advisor to the Nitten Exhibition, a member of the Japan Art Academy, and a Person of Cultural Merit. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 89.
