About Akashiya New Brush Pens (Koto)
The new brush pens are a pride and joy, handcrafted one by one by master brush artist Akashiya.
Made with a special, strong fiber, they beautifully express tome (strokes), hane (strokes), and harai (strokes with strokes).
The brush barrel (shaft) is finished with Kyo-Yuzen washi paper, featuring the elegant colors of traditional Japanese patterns, and Edo-Komon washi paper, featuring a chic, small-patterned pattern with a limited number of colors.
Perfect for general letters, addressing, and gift tags, as well as guest books and registers at weddings and tea ceremonies, and as gifts...
Enjoy a moment of elegance.

Traditional Japanese Patterns Used on the Shaft

Kyoto Yuzen and Edo Komon
Kyoto Yuzen is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that originated in the Genroku period (1603-1868) and is known for its colorful, painterly patterns. It is particularly known for its beautiful floral, bird, and landscape motifs.

Edo Komon is a traditional dyeing pattern that was originally seen only on samurai kimono during the Edo period as a standard small pattern. However, as the number of craftsmen increased, it began to be used on kimonos for commoners as well.
